Literary Events

Long long ago, before English became the global language it is today, it was pretty useless, getting beaten soundly by the Spanish and the French. So the English decided they won’t be so rigid after all, and started accepting a whole lot of new words into their language regularly. As a totally unrelated development, the US of A became a superpower and everyone began to speak the language they spoke (Yes, they speak English, Hip-hop is not a language). And so we thought we’ll set out a line of events for all those who’ve made it their own special passion to play with this language, and its intricacies. Words, phrases, stories, anagrams, rebuses, poems, limericks... all that can be done to the English language, shall be done here. All are invited to make this vissychoise of verbiage veer even more verbose.

Scrabble – At this point, we’d like to advise you to know that ‘ug’ ‘li’ ‘ow’ and ‘za’ are words. And the last word in this dictionary we use is ‘zyzzyva’. Trust us, its fun!

Crossie – That little black and white grid you see in your newspaper every day. There’ll be a written prelim, and the finals.

What’s the Good Word – A veritable mix of all sorts of words games, along with a few etymologies. WTGW is for those who know their vocabulary backward. Sometimes, literally.

Creative Writing – The Old Lady of literary events, where the mind is without fear and... where plagiarism like that is not appreciated. Four days, four writing forms. Prove to us that the pen is indeed mightier than the sword.
